Drivers and team members also attend some parts of the accompanying programme. Our tips on how to meet drivers and how to behave when meeting them can be found here.

PRACTICAL

The Singapore Grand Prix is held at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, located in the heart of Singapore. The F1 race has been held at the same venue since 2008.

Singapore has strict traffic regulations to ensure safety and order on the roads. Here are some of the main traffic regulations in Singapore:

  • Driver's side: In Singapore, you drive on the left side of the road.
  • Speed limits: Speed limits are strictly enforced and usually range from 50 km/h (31 mph) in urban areas to 90 km/h (56 mph) on expressways, varying depending on the specific road conditions.
  • Seat belts: seat belts are mandatory for the driver and all passengers in the vehicle.
  • Mobile phones: it is illegal to use a mobile phone while driving in Singapore. Hands-free devices are allowed but drivers must take extra care to ensure that they are not distracted.
  • Alcohol limit: The legal limit for alcohol in a person's body is 35 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of breath or 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood.
  • Documentation: drivers must have a valid driving licence, vehicle registration documents and proof of insurance when driving. International visitors may need an International Driving Permit (IDP) in addition to their country's driver's licence.
  • Traffic signs and signals: Drivers are expected to obey traffic signs, signals and traffic lights. Traffic signs follow international standards.
  • Overtaking: Overtaking is permitted on the right-hand side on multi-lane roads. However, drivers should take extra care and overtake only when it is safe to do so.
  • Priority: Vehicles approaching from the right normally have the right of way unless otherwise indicated by traffic signs or traffic lights.
  • Pedestrian crossings: Drivers must give way to pedestrians at marked crossings and take extra care in areas of high pedestrian traffic. Failure to give way to pedestrians at crosswalks is an offence.
  • Roundabouts: Vehicles already on a roundabout generally have the right of way. Drivers entering a roundabout must give way to vehicles already in motion.
  • Parking: Parking regulations are strictly enforced and vehicles should park only in designated parking spaces. Unauthorised parking may result in a ticket or towing.
